The firm Vimtas Rubber Company was started in the year 1992. It is a trading concern and export house, dealing mainly in natural rubber of various grades, dry herbs, leather products and handicrafts. Mr. Kurien Jose is the current proprietor of the firm.

Vimson and Company

Our sister concern Vimson and Company, founded in 1933 by Late. V M Kurien, Kallooparambil (Grand Father of Mr. Kurien Jose) was the first commercial crepe mill in India. With the help of late George Vanak, the then Manager of Bata Company, Vimson and Company commenced crepe rubber production. Efficient and successful operation of the company resulted in the propping up of other crepe mills in the country. Soon the industry developed and by 1980, there were 98 commercial crepe mills in the country.

The company now produces technically specified crepe rubber and supplies to major tyre companies in India.
About Kottayam

Kottayam is a district in Kerala State, which is known as the land of Letters, Latex and Lakes. Kottayam proclaims 100% literacy and is home to many famous publication houses including Malayala Manorama, Deepika, Mangalam etc.

The strategic location of Kottayam, the geographical features and moderate climate with sufficient monsoon are all best suited for rubber, coconut, tea, coffee, pepper, cocoa, cardamom plantations etc. The Head Quarters of The Rubber Board of India, Plantation Corporation of Kerala and Oil Palm India Ltd. are located in Kottayam town, which is also the trading headquarter for The Natural Rubber & Latex. The leading Tyre Industries MRF, Appolo, CEAT etc. along with other major and medium rubber based industries are in regular touch with Kottayam to satisfy their requirements.

Kottayam is also famous for its beautiful backwaters, Ayurvedic massage centres, martial arts (Kalarippayattu) centres, resorts, age old temples, churches and mosques. The backwaters of Kumarakom is located in Kottayam.
