Scientific Name: Boerhaavia diffusa Location: Found as a wild plant all over India. There are three varieties of this herb - white, red, blue and light green. The white one, which is found in common, produces heat and destroys phlegm. It is effective for anaemia, heart problems, thoracic haemorrhage and colic abdominal pain. It is a remedy for oedema and dropsy that arise due to various causes. It is particularly useful in ascites caused by liver peritoneal and kidney conditions. It has been found as a good expectorant, and is prescribed for asthma with marked success. Taken largely, it acts as an emetic. Applying its root rubbed in whey on the eye rod cures cataract. |
